Solving the Problem of Overwhelm

What You’ll Hear:

Have you ever noticed that you can always make time for what you really want to do, but when you don’t want to do something you say, “I don’t have enough time?”

Like sitting down for 15 minutes and reading a book to your children.

Do you take time to make plans for you and your husband to actually go out, without children, and enjoy your time together?

Maybe you think you don’t have 20 minutes a day to keep up on the house.

Do you think you don’t have time to sit down and connect with God in prayer?

Reality Check

Let’s be honest with ourselves.

We all have the same amount of time.

And we fill it to overflow – with all kinds of stuff.  Stuff that ultimately isn’t important and doesn’t contribute to the happiness of ourselves and our family.

Or maybe you fill your time with wasting time while others fill it with the martyr syndrome of doing everything for everyone and then complaining that they don’t have any time for themselves.

We make decisions every day about how we’re going to spend our time.

Mom Overwhelm

Yet so many of us feel overwhelmed.

We’re overwhelmed because we’re not using our time wisely and there’s a nudge in our conscience that tells us so.

We find the time to do what we want, but fall back to the excuse that we don’t have the time to do what we need.

We would release the overwhelm if we just prioritized and did what we may not love to do – like cleaning our home or taking the time to set up and go on a date night.

If you think you don’t have enough time to do the essentials of caring for your family and your home, you are lying to yourself.

If you think you don’t have time to pray for 15 minutes, you are wrong.

Using our time to care for our mental, physical, and spiritual well- being, our family, and our home IS precisely where we should be spending out time.

We have to be prudent and the boss of our time.

The Key to Solving the Problem of Overwhelm

Schedules and routines will help us make sure we do all we need to do – whether we want to do the tasks or not.

We are not victims.

Instead of thinking, “I don’t have time”, decide what is important to keep your home and your life running smoothly and without stress.

Then schedule it.  Make it happen.  Prayer, home keeping, one on one time with the children and your husband are the priorities.

Don’t add overwhelm to your life by putting off the important things you don’t want to do.

Take control of where your time is spent and watch how your overwhelm begins to disappear.
