What You’ll Hear in This Episode
We do a great disservice to young engaged couples when we focus on the wedding and not the marriage.
So many couples think that if they have arguments or stop getting along, they should call it quits and find another.
They give up before they really even begin.
But for all of us who have been married for a while, we understand that marriage is a journey.
There can be a smooth path for a time, but there are always challenges – and sometimes those challenges can be big and last a long time.
But it is in the challenge of those difficult times – if we approach them with a Christian attitude – that we grow in virtue, deepen our humility, and learn to love our spouse better.
Don’t let your marriage be one of going through the motions.
Be Proactive in Your Marriage
Be proactive in deepening your relationship.
Pope St. John Paul II said,
“Love is never something ready-made, something merely ‘given’ to man and woman;
it is always at the same time a ‘task’ which they are set.
Love should be seen as something which in a sense never ‘is’ but is always only ‘becoming’,
and what it becomes depends upon the contribution of both persons and the depth of their commitment.”
