What You’ll Hear in this Episode:

We need more people in the world who live with integrity.

People who adhere to their upright values, strong morals and ethical principles without compromising.

is the practice of being honest and showing a consistent and uncompromising adherence to strong moral and ethical principles and values.

We can teach our children to live with integrity by holding them accountable for their actions and encouraging them in behaviors that exhibit integrity.

People who live with integrity often:

  • give most people the benefit of the doubt
  • They are always honest.
  • They seek ways to help others
  • The treat other with respect
  • They are responsible in their actions and are able to admit when they’re wrong.

“Integrity is doing the right thing even when no one is watching.”C.S. Lewis

Define Your Values and Morals

Encourage your children to live with integrity by helping them define their values and morals and guide them as they grow to adhere to them without compromise.

Integrity is often challenged most in the teen and early adult years.

Their values and morals will be questioned constantly.

This is the time, as they want more independence, to help them understand that with independence – freedom – comes responsibility.

Responsibility to all your family stands for – your values and your morals.

They may make mistakes along the way, but lovingly guide them back to living with honesty, respect for themselves and others, and humbly admitting when they are wrong.

We often leave our children hanging out to dry in the teen and early adult years.

We think our forming time is over.

Teen Years are Critical

But it is in these critical years that their formation is tested.

Our children should be able to depend on us to be there to support them when they’re all alone in their decisions, and challenge them when they make mistakes.

Forming children with integrity begins when they are very young and continues into adulthood.

Make sure you’re not checking out of parenthood too soon.

Your children need you – your example, your love, and your challenge to live with integrity.
